WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

As the Director of Sourcing Operations you will be responsible for the direction and oversight of core global sourcing processes, including (but not limited to):

  • global and regional RFQ preparation
  • supplier/part price agreement maintenance
  • sales quotation support
  • site material escalation support

To assist you in the execution of these responsibilities you will have a team of resources located in multiple sites across the globe.  In addition, you will facilitate sourcing operating mechanisms, including the maintenance and history of sourcing metrics.  Overall, your mission will be to drive core sourcing process efficiency and effectiveness throughout Plexus, with emphasis on continuous improvement of cycle time, defects and service levels. This is a key role: the processes in scope have a direct impact on profit margins, market share and working capital. In this role, you will be based in Neenah, WI out of our corporate headquarters and report to the Vice President of Global Sourcing.  

HOW YOU’LL DO IT

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Lead change in the transformation/creation of a Global Sourcing Process center of excellence.  Through creation of standard work, organizational design, and talent alignment, create a high performing Sourcing Process organization. 
  • Develop & drive operating metrics and systems of management.  Drive process and tool continuous improvement so team is operating at maximum productivity and efficiency.  
  • Develop & drive multi-generational process roadmaps.
  • Where dependencies exist, work collaboratively with the regional sourcing leaders to institute related performance metrics that drive accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence across the Global Sourcing organization.
  • Serve as a lean champion for Sourcing and promote Digital Sourcing applications, including big data analytical toolsets.
  • Accountable to execute on Plexus’ Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

 Additional Accountabilities:

  • Establish an effective organizational design serving each of Sourcing processes.
  • Review & approval authority for Global Sourcing Quality Management System documents.
  • Interface with IT to translate business requirements into effective systemic solutions.
  • Benchmark the strategies, roadmaps, tools, processes and metrics of our customers and competitors, as well as other relevant industries.

WHAT WE VALUE

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering is required; MBA is a plus
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, and/or Lean and/or equivalent certification highly desired
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement of operational performance metrics
  • Commodity Sourcing experience in the electronics industry is desired
  • Minimum 10 years of sourcing or supply chain experience
  • APICS certification is a plus
  • People leadership and team-building experience is required
  • Management/Supervisory skills including assertiveness, prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Ability to lead change and positively motivate employees through transformation
  • Able to make sound, logical and reasonable decisions with minimal guidance
  • Track record of developing and/or improving IT business process tools
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP systems are essential
  • Knowledge of Kinaxis and/or Oracle JDE is desirable
  • Demonstrated project management expertise
