As the Director of Global Commodity Management you will be responsible for developing an effective sourcing organization and oversight of core global sourcing processes, including (but not limited to):

  • Define global sourcing strategies for assigned commodity families
  • Plan and steer the execution of those strategies
  • Drive the cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration within the sourcing team

To assist you in the execution of these responsibilities you will have a team of resources located across the globe.  Overall, your mission will be to drive value by implementing strategic sourcing strategies focused on lowest total cost of ownership and best in class flexibility to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. This is a key role: the processes in scope have a direct impact on profit margins, market share and working capital. In this role, you will be based in Neenah, WI out of our corporate headquarters and report to the Vice President of Global Sourcing.  


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and sets the targets for the quarterly cost reduction activities together with the VP of Global sourcing.
  • Under the leadership of the VP - Sourcing, each of the commodities within his/her responsibility will be driven via commercial terms improvements and cost saving benefits to positively impact and achieve the company’s net parts margin targets.
  • Will be a part of the global sourcing management team and will develop and drive the future strategies for the company within global sourcing in cooperation with its peers in the other regions.
  • Develop an effective global sourcing strategy for the commodities assigned by focusing on lowest total cost of ownership and flexibility through supplier segmentation, development and management.
  • Develop a professional relationship with key suppliers through executive meetings and execution to the defined business metrics.
  • Accountable to execute on Plexus’ Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

 Additional Accountabilities:

  • Maintain Sourcing and Material Costing roadmap, value stream map and opportunity funnel.
  • Compare and assess Plexus Sourcing and Material Costing solutions against our competitors.
  • Ensure supplier contracts are in place and enforced.
  • Interface with Plexus' Customer Management and Customer Director Teams and functions within Supply Chain to identify customers’ needs and support their supply chain strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance Plexus' supply chain offerings through strategic planning, risk management, change management and cross-functional process development.
  • Understand the current component market conditions and effectively communicate it with Plexus and our customers.
  • Proactively develop executive level supplier relationship that result in Plexus achieving competitive costs, terms and availability of supply in all market conditions.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 40%).

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience is preferred; Five (5) or more years of related experience is required.
  • Experience within the commodity families of Interconnects, Passives and Electromechanical (IP&E), Semiconductors, and Printed Circuit Boards (PCB).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
  • Demonstrated commodity management expertise.
  • Proven negotiations skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization.
